Build Day 6

Build time today 2.5 hours - Total build time 18.0 hours.
Man time today 4.0 hours - Total man time 27.0 hours.

The evening started quite well, firstly I wrapped the top of the supports with masking tape, hopefully to stop the chassis slipping so much. It does help but I still clamp the chassis to the front support.
On to fitting the aluminium panel that is now identified as going between the front wheels, we flipped the chassis over again and riveted the panel in place, straightforward and done quite quickly.

Next back on to the front suspension. We both read the instructions then offered the suspension up to the mounting points, it would not fit without fouling the bell crank. I went back to the book and Oli on the internet on his iPhone looking for pictures or articles, I went and looked at the picture I had of the partly assembled car, no shocks unfortunately. We then took the bell cranks apart then put them back together again. Still not much better, one shock seems to fit better than the other and we managed to get one in situ but touching the bell crank mounting. I am not going to tighten up the nuts and bolts until I am sure all is correct, plus I need some imperial sockets, I have spanners but you can apply the correct torque with a spanner plus I need some locknut adhesive (on order).

I have uploaded some pictures of the shock in position but fouling, though it is not easy to see and then a couple of the shock that won’t fit.

the bottom of the shock

Some issue from slightly further away

I will email Westfield the pictures and ask for some advice hopefully nothing major, plus I can pop in on Saturday morning.
